LEUVEN PRIDE 2025

Leuven Pride – Safer Space Policy

Leuven Pride is a celebration of diversity, visibility, and solidarity. We celebrate who we are, but we also take care of one another. That's why we commit to making Leuven Pride a safer space – a place where we actively work towards respect, inclusion, and safety.

Everyone who participates in Leuven Pride and the activities associated with it agrees to the following guidelines:

1. Everyone belongs
No one is excluded based on gender identity, sexual orientation, skin color, disability, age, neurodivergence, religion, language, origin, status, or class. Discrimination or exclusion (e.g. racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia…) will not be tolerated and can be named and addressed.

2. Ask first Consent is essential
Always ask explicit permission:

  • before touching someone,
  • before taking photos or videos,
  • before star ng a conversa on or dance.

Only "yes" means yes. Silence or hesitation means no.

3. Be mindful of your impact

Do not make derogatory, sexual, or stigmatizing comments.
Alcohol or other substances are never an excuse for crossing someone's boundaries.
Avoid micro aggressions – even if you "mean well".

4. Speak up, notice, care
Do you see something that's not okay? Speak up or inform a member of the Pride Care Team (recognizable by vests or badges). A care zone is available – a quiet and supportive space where you can step aside, take a break, and recover from stimuli, emotions, or a difficult situation.

5. Participation means agreement with the Pride Policy
Everyone joining Leuven Pride is expected to agree to these guidelines. This way, we build a space where care and respect are at the center.

Participation in this event is entirely at your own risk. Regenbooghuis Vlaams-Brabant UniQue cannot be held liable for accidents, physical or material damage, loss, or theft of personal belongings. Each participant is personally responsible for their own behavior and actions. If necessary, the participant's personal (family) insurance will be called upon.

Will you join the Pride Care Team?

Leuven Pride is not only about celebrating, but also about caring for one another. That's why we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Pride Care Team.

In short: you help make the difference, ensuring everyone feels welcome, safe, and seen.

Pride is for all of us.
Pride is protest*.
Pride is connection.

*Protest (from Latin: pro is 'for', testari is 'to witness') means expressing concern about political or social injustice. Hoping to spark change.
