LEUVEN PRIDE 2025

Why pride?

1. From protest to parade: Leuven writes queer history

From protest to parade: Leuven writes queer history Did you know that Leuven has played a role in the queer emancipation struggle since the 1969s? From small-scale actions to visible celebrations: our city has a rich queer history. Leuven Pride honors this past and continues to build on the story.

2. State of the Queers: building tomorrow together

We don't look ahead alone. Through our Pride Hubs we bring together queer people and associations from all over Flemish Brabant. We listen, share and dream out loud of a future in which everyone can be themselves. This input flows directly into our State of the Queers.

3. Freedom is indivisible: queer rights are human rights

Our fight does not stop at sexual orientation or gender identity. We advocate for an inclusive Equal Opportunities House where themes such as disability, migration, poverty and women's rights also have a place. Because your freedom is also ours - and vice versa.

4. Visible and vigilant: pride is still needed

In 2025, we will continue to hear testimonies about verbal and physical violence. That is why we will continue to take to the streets. Leuven Pride is not an unnecessary luxury, but a necessary reminder: we are here, we belong and we will not be pushed away.

5. Leuven as a beacon: a city for everyone

With the support of the City of Leuven, Equal Opportunities Flanders and cultural partners, we are building a city that is bursting with diversity. Queer culture is part of that, as is queer safety. Leuven Pride is also participating in the LOV2030 trajectory, Leuven & Beyond as a candidate for European Capital of Culture 2030, where connection is paramount.

Pride is ours.
Pride is protest*.
Pride is connection.

*Protest (from Latin: pro is 'for', testari is 'to testify') is the expression of negative feelings about certain political or social problems. In this way, people hope to bring about a change in society.

WE BUILD LEUVEN PRIDE TOGETHER:

We expect 2500 people and we want to manage that well.
